I am Iswar Dharmaraj, and I am 38 years old. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with multibacillary leprosy, and it affected my leg badly. Because of the disability, I couldn’t work properly and had no way to earn money. I was worried all the time , how would I support my family and give them a good life?
Then, the ALERT team found me while they visited my village. I shared my concerns. I got the chance to join a livelihood program through the ALERT team. With their support, I started a small vegetable business. It wasn’t easy in the beginning,I was unsure and scared. But I worked hard every day, and slowly things began to change.
Today, I run my business with confidence. I even bought a bike to help me reach more customers and grow my income. I have a bank account and can save money for my family’s future. I feel proud of what I have built. With the right support and strong will, I turned my life around and I believe others can too.
Iswar’s journey is a testament to resilience and self-reliance. From battling a disability to becoming a successful entrepreneur, he proves that no challenge is too great when met with courage and perseverance. His story inspires others to believe in second chances and the power of hard work.
