I never imagined that my life would take such a devastating turn. As a farmer, I took pride in working on my land and providing for my family. But when leprosy entered my life, everything changed. The disease weakened my body, and soon, I could no longer walk or work in the fields. Watching my family struggle because of my condition filled me with shame and hopelessness. At my lowest point, I even considered ending my life, believing that I had become a burden.
Then, one day, the ALERT team visited my village. They saw my condition and immediately stepped in to help me receive medical treatment. With their support, I completed my Multi-Drug Therapy (MDT) and gradually regained my strength. They also provided counseling, which helped me realize that my life was not over, I just needed a new way forward. Through their livelihood program, I started a small shop, giving me a source of income and restoring my confidence.
Today, I am leprosy-free, managing my shop, and have even reclaimed my land. The biggest achievement for me is having savings in my bank account, something I once thought was impossible. ALERT not only gave me treatment but also showed me that I still had a future. My journey proves that no matter how deep the despair, with the right support and determination, life can always be rebuilt.
