What’s special about GBL!
At GoodBye Leprosy
We strive to revitalize India’s approach to ending leprosy and reducing its impact through greater involvement of stakeholders and civil society, government collaboration, and the evolution of policies and programmes. We will aggregate critical data based on practical experience at three levels and in neglected geographies, as illustrated by the following four organizations: mainstreaming, new cases, policy dialogue and inclusion.
Grassroots
Atma Swabhiman (Jharkhand) is a community-led initiative by people affected by leprosy, living in leprosy colonies. It provides a variety of services to improve their quality of life , including access to water, education, and livelihoods — while also combating stigma and promoting dignity and inclusion.
State Level
ALERT-INDIA (Maharashtra) has been active in leprosy control for over 47 years , working with affected persons, linking services to government systems, and engaging in state policy discussions.
National Level
LEPRA (Hyderabad) operates across 10 states, supporting leprosy eradication efforts and reaching 2+ million people. As a member of the International Federation of Anti-Leprosy Associations (ILEP), it partners nationally and globally.
Neglected Geographies
AIFO India (Bengaluru), focuses on leprosy and disability inclusion in neglected regions like Assam’s tea-garden districts and across the North-East region. An ILEP member, works through public systems to deliver health, education, and livelihoods.
