My name is Sindhubhai, and I am 55 years old. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with leprosy. The disease left me with a Grade 2 disability in both hands. Around the same time, I lost my only son. It was the most painful time of my life. I was left alone to care for my elderly mother, and I didn’t know how I would manage everything by myself.
The people around me started treating me differently. Some avoided me, and others said hurtful things. The rejection and isolation hurt more than the disease itself. But I made a promise to myself that I would not give up. I started working as a house help. It wasn’t easy, but I wanted to live with dignity and provide for my mother.
That’s when SKSS came into my life. They gave me support, counseling, and the strength to believe in myself again. They helped me understand that leprosy can be treated, and that I still have the power to live a full life.
Even today, I face many challenges, but I continue to work with pride and courage. With the help of SKSS I found hope again. I want others like me to know that no matter how painful life becomes, we can still rise, survive, and live with self-respect.
Today, I still face challenges, but I continue my work with strength and self-respect. I want others to know that even in pain and loss, we can live with courage and hope.
Sindhubhai’s story is one of extraordinary resilience. She has faced disease, disability, and personal loss, yet she continues to move forward with courage. Her unwavering spirit is an inspiration, proving that no hardship is greater than the strength of a determined heart.
